And then there are the CoreValues, which I feel are ultimately more important for from them come the practices. But I don't think most people can "get it" without learning the practices first.

There is an AlternatePath through the practices that might possibly put the more controversial practices later in the list. The regular path lists the practices in an order that helps one understand XP the quickest. Also, the practices listed earlier help one understand the practices listed later. (At least that may have been my intent when I ordered them many years ago. I don't recall.)
